So this post is just a bunch of pics with no explanation. Will post a full write up about this repair as soon as I can. Right now I just need some folks to be able to see what we have so they can give advice on how to deal with it.

There were three bolts holding the stuffing gland together (#11) the aft bolt would not clear the steering quad. It is free, but cannot get it all the way out.
For the PSC34 folks. I removed the coolant overflow tank and went in head first with arms stretched forward like a diver, it isn’t comfy but it gave me full access to the rudder post. My head was between the steering cable so be sure to lock the helm.
